Turkey Burger In Paradise

So the other day I got a mean craving for a turkey burger. It's a strange thing to crave, but it hit me like a ton of bricks! I used to go on kicks where I would make turkey burgers for a few weeks straight and then they would fall of the face of the earth until the next craving hit.

Turkey is more often than not, very dry and bland. So when making the burgers it's important to mix in yummy things to keep it moist and flavorful! I can't remember what I used to put in mine, but I'm sure it's similar to what I did with this most recent batch.

So if you're ready for a little Thanksgiving in July, take a look below!

...now that I think of it, a Thanksgiving version of these would be ahhhhmazing.

-1 lb ground turkey
-2 shallots
-1 clove garlic
-1/4 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
-Pinch of celery seed
-Salt and pepper to taste
-Pinch of mustard powder

1. Dice up the shallots and garlic.
2. In a small saute pan with a little butter and oil, saute the shallots and garlic until soft. When these are done, set aside to cool a bit.
3. In a mixing bowl, throw in your turkey, cooled shallots and garlic, cheese, salt, pepper, celery seed, and mustard powder.
4. As Ina would say- clean hands *waiving spirit fingers to the camera*! Get in there and mix it all up so that the ingredients are thoroughly combined.
5. In that same saute pan, heat up a little butter and olive oil on medium heat.
6. When that's got good heat going on, form your patties and drop in the pan!
7. Turkey is something you want to be sure to cook through. Depending on the size and thickness, cook accordingly. Have to be careful not to overcook it though, or it will be like meat powder in your mouth. Ain't nobody got time for that.
8. Now that you're sure it's cooked but not meat dust, you're done!

Now you can top with whatever you'd like! Treat it like a regular ol burger or get fancy with it since it's turkey. I'm a pretty plain Jane, I like mine with a pickle and no bun. Other suggestions though, a homemade thousand island dressing can never be wrong. Or some mustard. Yummmm.

Now I want to make up some more because I'm back to thinking about that Thanksgiving version. Maybe treat it like a real princess and make it "eggs benedict" style with a stuffing bottom, then the turkey, with a little cranberry sauce on top. Oh goodness, excuse me while I wipe my drool off my face.

Anywayyyy, give it a try. It's something healthy and useful for you to switch up your diet! Oh! Wrap it in some lettuce maybe?

Also, I had a few turkey puns up my sleeve, but they were all fowl, so I decided to keep them there : )
